Nigerian elite long distance runner Deborah Pam is set to make a return to the Warri Effurun Peace Marathon after two years of absence.
Pam, who dominated the long distance races right from age 13, took time out of running to start a family with her husband Emmauel Gyang. She said she is gradually returning to form and would be looking to reestablish her dominance.
“I’ve been away for two races to give birth to my son. Now I’m back training hard to regain my form and hopefully win titles again.
“My husband and I are coming to Warri, my aim is to win the title this time around,” Pam said.
She revealed that training has been going on well and it has been fun even as her one year plus baby boy also participates in the training.
“He trains with us sometimes and would always wear my sneakers and jog with them.”
Gyang who was third in the 2021 race said he was also looking forward to racing in the Warri Effurun Peace Marathon, which he had never missed an edition. He would be facing usual rivals Stephen Dalyop and Ismael Sadjo for the top prize.
