Following tension raised by the controversial killing of soldiers and some members of the Okuama community in Delta State the Service Chiefs met with the Senate Joint defense committee.
Chairman of the defence joint committee Ahmed Lawan stressed the need for a thorough investigation of the incident in which 16 soldiers were allegedly killed by members of the Okuama community. The residents denied murdering the soldiers. They claimed that the soldiers who came into their community killed over 50 persons in an unprovoked attack.
“I extend my profound condolences to the families of these fallen soldiers, their colleagues, and their loved ones,” Lawan said
“The military high command is already responding to this incident. The cowardly offenders responsible for this heinous crime will not go unpunished.”
